Nokia to Replace Huawei in Deutsche Telekom's Infrastructure
Foreks - Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nokia has announced that it has signed a contract with Deutsche Telekom to establish a mobile network using Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) in over 3,000 sites in Germany. The agreement, which also involves Fujitsu, covers the mass deployment of ORAN-compliant technology along with ongoing commercial distribution in the Neubrandenburg area of Northern Germany. Nokia will replace equipment from China's Huawei. Both Nokia and Ericsson are looking to sell equipment with ORAN technology that promises significant cost reductions by utilizing cloud-based software and equipment from multiple vendors instead of relying on a single supplier. Ericsson had previously signed major contracts with AT&T T.N and Spain's largest telecom operator, MasOrange.
