Anadolu Sigorta Hosts the Fourth Anadolu Meetings in Samsun
Forex - The fourth edition of Anadolu Sigorta's Anadolu Meetings, aimed at raising awareness about insurance in society, was held in Samsun with the participation of a broad audience consisting of SMEs, business people, agents, and university students.
This time, the Anadolu Meetings, which address the developments in the insurance sector and aim to increase awareness about insurance, took place at Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun. On Friday, November 22, a panel moderated by journalist Noyan Doğan brought together SMEs, insurance agents, and university students, with speakers including Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University; Süleyman Ferşat Eldemir, President of the Samsun Industrialists and Business People Association; Mehmet Tuğtan, General Manager of Anadolu Sigorta; and Gaffar Öney, Head of SME and Business Banking Sales Department at İş Bankası (IS:ISATR), who all responded to questions. In the second part of the panel, the future of the insurance sector and special solutions for SMEs were discussed with the participation of Anadolu Sigorta's Deputy General Managers Fatih Gören, Taylan Matkap, and İdil Pamir.
Mehmet Tuğtan stated: "Samsun needs to focus on insurance solutions suitable for its strong industrial infrastructure." Evaluating the insurance record of producers in Samsun and the region, Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Mehmet Tuğtan listed the insurance rates by sector: "According to DASK data, 38% of the homes in Samsun have mandatory earthquake insurance. When we look at the Turkish average, this rate is approximately 56%. I believe this rate will increase in Samsun with the mandatory disaster insurances included in the Medium-Term Economic Program. According to TÜİK and SBM data, the rate of vehicle owners in Samsun with comprehensive insurance is about 22%. The Turkish average for this rate is 26%. In terms of home insurance, according to DASK and SBM data, the home insurance rate is around 21% in Samsun, while it is 25% nationwide. We see that the insurance rates for mandatory products, such as traffic insurance, are relatively higher compared to other insurance products. According to TÜİK and SBM data, the traffic insurance rate in Samsun for registered vehicles is around 80%, which is the same as the national average."
Tuğtan emphasized that Samsun has a strong and diverse industrial infrastructure in sectors such as agriculture, food, textiles, logistics, and automotive, highlighting the importance for SMEs operating in these sectors to accurately identify the risks in their areas and seek out specific types of insurance. "As Anadolu Sigorta, we provide solutions within our Workplace Package Insurance and SME Package Insurance offerings. Of course, these are tailored solutions differentiated by sector. We particularly recommend that SMEs operating in the agriculture and food sectors consider comprehensive insurance solutions like the SME Package Insurance to protect their businesses against risks such as natural disasters, illnesses, and loss of damage. For SMEs in the textile and apparel sector, securing SME Package Insurance will offer better protection against potential machine breakdowns, fires, theft, and workplace accidents that could occur during production processes. Furthermore, businesses in this sector need insurance that also covers logistics risks to ensure timely delivery of large orders. All these risks, as well as physical asset risks related to fire, flooding, storms, and natural disasters, should also be minimized with our Workplace Package Insurance product. The logistics and transportation sector needs products such as transport insurance, boat insurance, traffic insurance, and operational liability insurance to cover damages that may occur during transportation, accident risks, and vehicle maintenance," he added.
