Trump Considers Kevin Warsh for Treasury Secretary and Later as Fed Chair
According to a report based on knowledgeable sources, Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has floated the idea of appointing Kevin Warsh as Treasury Secretary with the understanding that he may later be considered for the position of Fed Chair. The potential appointment was discussed on Wednesday between Trump and Warsh, a former investment banker who has served at the Fed, at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. Additionally, Trump is considering bringing in hedge fund investor Scott Bessent, who has taught at Yale University for many years, to head the White House National Economic Council before nominating Warsh for the Treasury position. The report also notes that Trump may still select someone else for the Treasury role, with names such as Marc Rowan, co-founder of Apollo Global Management, Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty, and Robert Lighthizer, who served as Trump’s U.S. Trade Representative, also mentioned as potential candidates.
